Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Production Manager to oversee daily operations in our state-of-the-art seed processing facility. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient production processes, maintain our high-quality standards, lead a team of dedicated production workers, and uphold our stringent food safety, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), regulatory, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) standards.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee seed processing operations and coordinate production activities
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control standards
- Manage, train, and evaluate production staff
- Optimize production schedules and workflows
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance
- Collaborate with other departments to meet production goals
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems
- Analyze production data and prepare reports for management, including for key indicators such as OEE
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
- Investigate and address safety incidents
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and OSHA standards
- Coordinate emergency response plans and drills
What You'll Bring:
- 3-5+ years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in manufacturing or agricultural production
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining manufacturing and/or processing equipment, preferably in a food or seed processing context
- Ability to implement and maintain quality management systems
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., AOSA, ISTA) and phytosanitary requirements
- Preference for understanding of food safety regulations applicable to seed processing
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in production management software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make timely decisions
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements
- Certification in HACCP, ISO 22000, or relevant food safety management systems preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Food Science, or related field is beneficial
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust)
